Wild animals in nature care only for their own tribe's survival. Humans are the only species with the potential and innate ability to care for all animals and even plants. Even dolphins and porpoises, considered the most intelligent of the animals, can be considered to live a selfish lifestyle; these amphibious predators live out their life hunting fish and playing.
Being human, we also have a negative potential. This is evidenced by the destruction that humanity has caused to the environment and to us. We choose not to dwell on this, because of this simple universal law: Our attention is energy; where we direct this energy, the more we validate and aid the object of our attention. By recognizing positive constructive truths, and allowing that to be our focus, we are choosing to emphasize, nurture and invite into our life the best possible reality. By focusing on the negative, destructive possibilities, we bring more fear, struggle and other undesirables into our life.
It can be helpful to think of a thought not as energy but as a vessel of
energy. It is more likely that a possessor of many thoughts would have less
energy and influence then one whose fewer thoughts are clear, confident, focused
and practical. It is definitely the case of quantity versus quality. Quantities
of thoughts are not as beneficial as a few clear, inspired and directed ones.
It can then be concluded that it is not the thought itself, but the contents
of the thought that measures its true value.
